Chabad of Venice building transformed into hurricane relief center.

Sunday, 2 October, 2022 - 11:56 am

We are now five days removed from one of the most damaging natural disasters in American history. We have spoken to some members of our community, many (perhaps the majority) are unreachable - still without power as well as phone reception.

In an effort to help the community, we have mobilized aid from Chabad houses across the state: some offering manpower, others generators, and others food and essentials

Today, the Chabad of Venice building has transformed into a center for hurricane relief.

From 12-3pm hot meals will be prepared by a cooking team from Boca Raton Synagogue. The congregation there has sent a caravan of people and a food truck to serve food and deliver supplies to those in need. This is open to all so please tell your friends and neighbors.

If you cannot make it during this time, food will be available for you until 6 pm, simply let us know how many people you are and when you will be arriving

50+ volunteers are being bused in from Chabad of South Tampa Chabad at USF as well as the Jewish Federation of Tampa. Beginning 11:30 am, men and women will be driving to the far ends of our community to reach as many people as possible, ensuring safety and providing assistance in any way possible. They will report back to us if more help is needed. We will in turn pass info along to loved ones.

Note: we are planning on touching everyone possible in our community, please let us know if you know of someone specific in need of an urgent visit

To help these volunteers in their visits or to help deliver food and supplies, please come to Chabad between 11:30 am and 3 pm

We have been supplied an industrial power generator and have running water as well. Anybody who needs is welcome to come and relax, charge devices, drink a warm beverage, and gather with fellow community members. All are welcome, each day, 9 am to 7 pm

Anyone who needs help financially due to loss of income, needs help buying fuel, or needs a place to sleep should come to Chabad and speak with me directly. We are here to help

If you need assistance navigating insurance claims: medical, home, renters etc. stop by and we will connect you with another dedicated volunteer for specialized assistance in this area

If you are in a position to assist our efforts in supporting the community, please give generously at www.chabadofvenice.com/relief
